Weekly Livestock Update with Warren Johnston

With good rainfall across most parts of Tasmania and surrounding Islands and good reports from Southern mainland states, there appears to be a slight firming within the sheep markets over the last few days, and an urgency from some of the processing fraternity to start to lock away lamb and mutton supplies as supply looks certain to tighten over coming weeks / months.  Auction numbers continue to be at record lows for ALL livestock descriptions but it is a given that a spring flush will influence buyer activity for Store Stock moving forward and attract competition.

Spring Bull sales are just around the corner for those looking for new genetics with Mainland bull sales for all breeds being extremely strong throughout the country.

Next week, Oatlands Sheep sale is being held next Thursday (full details today’s Tas Country), along with our clearing sale list.  Next Thursday: EW & ME Owen , Moltema – clearing sale due to sale of property.  Thursday 31st August TC & AJ House,  South Forest – clearing sale also due to the sale of property.

Some numbers of store cattle are lining up for an AuctionsPlus Spring Cattle Sale Friday 1st of September for those looking to Market or purchase.
